About The Kusnacht Practice

The Kusnacht Practice is built on roughly ten unmarked private villas along the Lake Zurich shoreline, each taking one client with two live-in staff. Founded in 2011 and owned by its current Chief Executive since 2013, it treats mental health, addiction and behavioural conditions across three declared pillars: psychiatry, medical treatment, and biomolecular restoration, its trademarked BIO-R method, which uses laboratory analysis of deficiencies and a strict nutritional protocol to rebuild physiology alongside psychotherapy. Each client has a live-in counsellor and a private chef in residence and is driven to appointments. The practice has grown from about fifteen staff in 2015 to roughly seventy-five, adding precision and longevity medicine to the original addiction offer. It is licensed by the Canton of Zurich as an ambulatory medical institution holding a home-care licence, which is not an inpatient hospital licence, and it should not be described as a hospital.

Assessed: The clinic has a full assessment in this edition: all ten criteria scored, each with its reasoning, its sources with capture dates, and the gaps we could not close. Clinic overview

Founded
2011, on bylined reporting from a facility visit. The clinic's own About page commits to no year and says only that it was founded over fifteen years ago. UnverifiedStated by the clinic, not yet confirmed by an independent source
Capacity
The clinic publishes no occupancy figure. Its home page states that each client is treated in one of its ten luxury villas, and bylined reporting from a facility visit gives six to nine clients at a time, each in a separate villa. UnverifiedStated by the clinic, not yet confirmed by an independent source
Staff per client
Not published. Reporting from a facility visit gives roughly seventy-five full-time staff, up from fifteen in 2015, a treatment team of about twenty, and two live-in staff per villa. Against six to nine concurrent clients that implies roughly 8:1 to 12:1, which is a derivation and not a clinic figure. UnverifiedStated by the clinic, not yet confirmed by an independent source
Languages
English, German, French and Arabic, as published by the clinic.
Licence
The imprint states that The Kusnacht Practice AG is a licensed ambulatory medical institution holding a home-care licence, supervised by the Department of Health of the Canton of Zurich. The cantonal list of home-care institutions carries the operator at this address. This is not an inpatient hospital licence.
Payment and insurance
Private pay only. The pricing page states that there is no insurance billing.
Length of stay
A medical examination of one to seven days, then primary treatment of six to twelve weeks. Continuing Care runs from days up to two years. Four weeks is the practical commercial minimum.
Address
Zollikerstrasse 60, Zollikon, Switzerland

Treatments

Primary Residential Treatment

Six to twelve weeks after the medical examination

From CHF 117,300 per week (includes All treatment costs.; excludes Travel to and from Zurich, unrelated medical expenses, and Continuing Care.)

A single-occupancy villa with a live-in counsellor and a private chef, daily one-to-one psychotherapy, psychiatric management and medication review, the BIO-R laboratory and nutritional protocol, personal training and complementary therapy, with twenty-four hour medical and clinical supervision and limousine service to appointments.

Medical Examination and Assessment

One to seven days

Priced within the weekly rate

A comprehensive medical, psychiatric and laboratory workup covering micronutrient, hormonal and metabolic analysis. It produces the individualised BIO-R protocol and the treatment plan for the residential phase, so the diagnostic phase determines the clinical content of everything that follows rather than running alongside it.

BIO-R Biomolecular Restoration

Delivered within the residential stay

Priced within the weekly rate

The trademarked protocol that corrects biochemical deficiencies through targeted supplementation, infusion therapy and a strict diet of protein, fats and vegetables, three meals a day, no snacking and no refined sugar or refined carbohydrate. It is positioned as the physiological half of recovery, running in parallel with psychotherapy rather than supporting it.

Leaders Retreat

Not published

-

A named short-format programme for executives and founders who need a compressed assessment and reset rather than a full residential admission. It appears on the pricing page and has its own page, and neither publishes a duration or a price, which is a transparency gap on a product the clinic actively markets.

Game Changer Stay

Not published

-

The second named short-format programme, listed on the pricing page and on its own page with no duration and no price attached. It is recorded here as published but unpriced rather than omitted, because a prospective client cannot compare it against anything.

Continuing Care

From days up to two years

Not published by the clinic. Spear's reported CHF 20,000 per week on 3 January 2023.

Structured aftercare with case management, ongoing therapy and, where required, staff deployed into the client's home environment. It is explicitly excluded from the residential price, so it is a separate purchase, and the clinic does not publish its rate.

Our assessment

The largest review dataset attached to this clinic is an employee dataset, not a client one, and it is poor. The client dataset is twelve reviews on a single treatment directory. Neither is a sound basis for a rating. An anonymous employee review alleges that HR asked employees to write positive reviews on two platforms. It is unproven and unresolved, and it is recorded rather than set aside because it bears directly on whether the small positive base can be taken at face value. No Trustpilot profile exists and no verifiable rating or review count could be established on the largest general platform.

Press coverage is substantial but concentrated in luxury lifestyle rather than hard news, and the clinic lists it on its own media page. One title ran a full facility visit, which is the only piece of independent operational reporting found, and another covered the clinic as a facility favoured by Middle Eastern ultra-high-net-worth clients.

None found.

Facility

Approximately ten private villas along the Lake Zurich shoreline in Zollikon and Küsnacht, each occupied by a single client with two live-in staff, a counsellor and a private chef. The villas carry no signage and no external identification, which is a deliberate part of the privacy model rather than an aesthetic choice. The clinic's hospitality pages describe villas crafted to ease the mind and calm the body, with lake and Alpine views in one of the most expensive residential districts in Switzerland. A treatment directory lists a pool, fitness centre, spa and sauna across the estate, with skiing, snowboarding, hiking and golf arranged off site, none of it verified against clinic material. Airport transfers and limousine service are included in the weekly rate. The clinic publishes no villa count, no floor areas and no room specifications, and no photograph on the site identifies a specific villa interior as such. The quality of the estate therefore rests largely on one journalist's visit.

Food

A private chef lives in the villa with the client and is one of only two live-in staff, which is a stronger structural commitment to food than most clinics at any price. The clinic's own framing is clinical rather than hospitality-led: private chefs personalise every meal with attention to both taste and therapeutic value. Nutrition is an instrument of the BIO-R protocol. Reporting from a facility visit documented a regime of protein, fats and plenty of vegetables, three meals a day with no snacking or grazing, and no refined sugar or refined carbohydrate permitted, with diets built from the laboratory analysis. Nutritionists appear on the staff roster and all meals and nutritional planning are included in the weekly rate. No chef is named publicly and no gourmet credential is published. No hygiene finding or incident appears in any source reviewed.

Privacy

no client contact

What is established: villas with no signage or external identification; one client per villa; two live-in staff per villa; scheduling designed so that no client meets another; electronic device sweeps before departure; and a named Data Protection Officer on the leadership team, which is unusual and creditable. The clinic's FAQ states directly that clients are treated individually, so no possibility exists for one client to meet another during their stay. What is not established: whether the treatment team, therapy rooms, medical facilities and transport are duplicated per client or shared across the six to nine concurrent clients. With roughly seventy-five staff and a treatment team of about twenty serving six to nine clients, clinicians are necessarily shared, and the clinic does not describe where consultations physically take place or how arrivals are separated. The no-contact statement is the clinic's own; it is credible and specific, and no independent source tests it. The clinic's own language does not assert that it treats a single client at a time across the operation. Any one-client-at-a-time phrasing applied to this clinic comes from directories, not from the clinic.

C1 Client separation and occupancy · 8

The clinic treats each client in one of about ten villas, one client per villa, with no group therapy, a stated rule that no two clients ever meet, a personal chauffeur and an in-villa team. Bylined first-hand reporting from 2023 describes consultations in a shared clinic building where staff clear corridors and the lobby between clients, and a treatment team of about twenty serving six to nine concurrent clients, so the treatment site and senior clinical staff are shared by scheduling. That is single occupancy per residence, band 8; band 9 requires no client contact at all, and band 10 builds on band 9. The Geneva residence named on the clinic's own Game Changer Stay page is a difference in programme scope rather than a contradiction about the occupancy model, so no deduction applies.

C2 Clinical governance and medical cover · 4

The only register entry is the Canton of Zurich Spitex (home nursing) list, which carries The Kusnacht Practice AG at its Zollikon office at Zollikerstrasse 60. A home-nursing listing at the operator's office is not a licence or regulated treatment category for the villas, the clinic's own statement that it is a licensed ambulatory medical institution is not a register record, and the Geneva residence has no register entry, so the licence element is absent. A Chief Medical Officer holds overall medical responsibility and psychiatrists are named for the site, which gives band 4 without a licence. The stated 24/7 supervision names no physician on site or on call at night, the person living in each villa overnight is a counsellor, and on-site detox, a named escalation route, accreditation and a complex psychiatry programme are not established.

Four elements are established, including a structured diagnostic phase. The weekly fee includes one-to-one psychotherapy, but no session count or hours are published, which places the clinic at the band for individual therapy with no count. A live-in counsellor gives twenty-four hour presence in the villa, and the clinic states it has more doctors than clients, but bylined reporting describes a treatment team of about twenty shared across six to nine concurrent clients, so the senior team is pooled. Five elements are met: a personalised report with recommendations before departure, continuity through the practice's own mentor and case management, a mentor or counsellor who can return home with the client with return visits, audio and video check-ins, and a Continuing Care price of CHF 20,000 per week reported by bylined press in 2023. Continuing Care is excluded from the weekly fee and the clinic publishes no price for it; its duration is a range from a few days to two years, and no written discharge plan with a fixed duration or six-month structured contact is established, which keeps the clinic below band 7.

A sweep of the clinic's own domains found no ranking of clinics, a media page of dated press items with links and no awards or sponsored labels, and no content addressed to AI assistants: the ai-instructions path returns 404 and the llms file carries no instructions. One positive signal stands: the pricing page publishes a starting price of CHF 117,300 per week. No referral-fee policy, declining policy or policy on third-party-arranged admissions is published. C8 Track record and regulator standing · 6

No court or regulator outcome against The Kusnacht Practice AG within ten years was found in UK, US, Swiss federal and cantonal searches; the 2018 referral-payment report remains an allegation. Bylined first-hand reporting of a stay in a villa, published 3 January 2023, falls inside the five-year window. No inspection record exists for the site, and no second independent review platform is established, so band 6 is the ceiling for a clinic in that position.

C9 Environment, safety and nutrition · 4

The environment and safety score is band 4 on three elements, including independent first-hand documentation of the premises from the 2023 bylined stay, with a personal chauffeur, housekeeping, trainer and live-in counsellor. Emergency access within 30 minutes is not credited: Spital Zollikerberg's 24-hour emergency department is 7 minutes and 3.6 km by road from the operator's office, but the villa addresses are unpublished and a Geneva residence is also evidenced. The nutrition score is band 3 on one element, a condition-specific dietary protocol built from laboratory analysis, with no named nutrition professional. The mean of 4 and 3 is 3.5, rounded half up to 4.

Known gapsFacts the assessment needed but could not establish.:
  • Villa addresses are unpublished, so emergency access cannot be computed from a residence.

C10 Clinical seniority and academic standing · 5

Eight physicians are confirmed on the Swiss federal medical register MedReg, among them the Chief Medical Officer and two Senior Lead Psychiatrists, with three holding a psychiatry and psychotherapy title, one child and adolescent psychiatry, two general internal medicine, one gynaecology and obstetrics and one no federal specialist title. Register-confirmed credentials count without a facility licence, which remains unproven because the only register entry is the operator's Spitex listing. Four PubMed records with a local affiliation did not earn a publication marker. The index lands in band 5.

ProvisionalA check was still open when the edition closed, for example a register lookup or a video not yet received, or evidence under embargo.: Clinician register lookups for this criterion were still open at the edition cut-off (see known_gaps). The points count as assessed on the evidence available; the band may change when the lookups are completed, which is resolved in a later edition.

Frequently asked questions

What does treatment at The Kusnacht Practice cost?

The clinic publishes one figure: programmes begin at CHF 117,300 per week. It does not publish a total for a stay of any given length. The weekly rate covers the private villa, the medical and psychiatric team, the live-in counsellor, the private chef, hospitality staff, all meals, therapies and limousine service. Travel to and from Zurich, unrelated medical expenses and Continuing Care are billed separately, and the clinic publishes no price for Continuing Care. There is no insurance billing, though Swiss residents may qualify for partial reimbursement of medical services under the KVG.

Where is the clinic and what is the setting?

On the Lake Zurich shoreline in Zollikon and Küsnacht, the stretch known as Zurich's Gold Coast. Rather than a single clinical building, the practice operates roughly ten private villas, each taking one client at a time, and the villas carry no signage or external identification. Clients have lake and Alpine views and access to a pool, gym, spa and sauna, and are driven between residence and appointments. Zurich airport is a short drive, and skiing, hiking and golf are arranged nearby.

Who is the clinic designed for?

High-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals with mental health, addiction or behavioural conditions who need treatment that no one else can observe: executives, founders and public figures, with a substantial Middle Eastern clientele reported. The clinical range covers addiction, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, trauma, burnout, eating disorders and personality disorders, with internal medicine, precision medicine, longevity and child and adolescent psychiatry available on the same team.

How does admission work and how long is the wait?

Admission begins with direct contact with the practice, followed by a medical examination phase of one to seven days that produces the individual treatment plan and the BIO-R laboratory protocol. Primary treatment then runs six to twelve weeks, with four weeks as the practical commercial minimum. The practice does not publish a waiting time. With around ten villas it holds more concurrent capacity than single-residence competitors, so waits are likely shorter, but no figure is published and prospective clients should ask directly.

What happens after discharge?

Continuing Care runs from a few days to as long as two years. It covers ongoing therapy, case management, a mentor or counsellor who can return home with the client, telephone and video contact and return visits. The clinic's pricing page excludes Continuing Care from the weekly fee and publishes no rate for it, so the cost of aftercare is settled privately rather than known in advance. Spear's reported a figure of CHF 20,000 per week in January 2023; that is the magazine's number, not the clinic's, and we do not score on it. What the published fee does include is aftercare planning and recommendations.
