About The Dawn Wellness Centre and Rehab Thailand

The Dawn is a thirty-client residential centre on the Ping River outside Chiang Mai, open since 2017 and run across two campuses ten minutes apart. Its accreditation can be checked by a reader on the accreditor's own register: CARF International records the legal entity The Dawn Chiangmai Rehab and Wellness Centre, first accredited in 2024, holding a Three-Year Accreditation for Detoxification and Withdrawal Management (Residential) and for Residential Treatment, both adult integrated substance use and mental health. The model is trauma-informed, blending Western psychotherapy with Eastern wellness practice under a consultant psychiatrist who oversees all prescribing and supervises a 24-hour nursing team. It is a group programme rather than a discreet one: every client has a private ensuite room, but roughly fifteen hours of group therapy a week, shared dining and shared amenities mean clients meet each other by design. It publishes a price band rather than a fixed rate.

Clinic overview

Founded
The clinic states that it first opened to clients in 2017, corroborated by its own entry on an education-provider profile. A commercial directory states 2016. Two sources, two years, unresolved.
Capacity
The clinic states a maximum of 30 clients in private ensuite rooms across two riverside campuses. The estate is described elsewhere as carrying 35 rooms, which is a room count rather than clients in residence. No register records a capacity.
Languages
English is the working language. A third-party provider profile lists French, Portuguese, Spanish, Arabic, Russian and Thai, and that claim appears nowhere on the clinic's own site. UnverifiedStated by the clinic, not yet confirmed by an independent source
Licence
The clinic states that it is fully licensed by the Thailand Ministry of Public Health. No licence number is published and no register entry could be retrieved, so the class of licence is not register-verified. What is register-verified is the accredited scope of care on the CARF provider register: residential detoxification and withdrawal management, and residential treatment. UnverifiedStated by the clinic, not yet confirmed by an independent source
Accreditations
CARF International, first accredited 2024, Three-Year Accreditation for residential detox and withdrawal management and for residential treatment, adults, confirmed on the accreditor's own register. A further claim to American Accreditation Commission International accreditation could not be confirmed and is unverified.
Payment and insurance
Insurer marks for five international insurers are displayed on the clinic's own homepage. No reimbursement basis, direct-billing statement or policy terms is published, so what acceptance means in practice is not established. UnverifiedStated by the clinic, not yet confirmed by an independent source
Length of stay
Programmes run four to twelve weeks, with an average stay of 40 to 60 days and 90 days recommended for co-occurring conditions. The FAQ gives a wider range of four weeks to six months, set by diagnosis and response.

Treatments

Bespoke Programme

Four to twelve weeks

Priced by quotation from the admissions team

The most individualised track, on the main riverside campus, with the fullest access to psychiatry, TMS and one-to-one therapy hours. Aimed at clients who need a dependence and a co-occurring condition treated together rather than in sequence.

Signature Programme

Four to twelve weeks, average stay 40 to 60 days

Priced by quotation from the admissions team

The core residential track on the main campus: two individual therapy sessions and about fifteen hours of group therapy a week, medical detox where indicated, wellness programming, two massages and two outings a week, and online aftercare at no extra cost. The group-hours figure is the number that defines the model.

Signature at Viva

Four to twelve weeks

On quotation

The same clinical structure on the second riverside campus under the Wellness Centre brand, positioned for depression, anxiety, trauma and burnout for clients who would rather not be treated in an addiction-framed setting.

Detoxification and Withdrawal Management

Clinically determined, delivered before psychosocial treatment

Included in the programme fee; medication charged separately

Residential detox accredited by CARF, with a 24-hour on-site nursing team working under the consultant psychiatrist, who oversees all prescribing. The clinic states plainly that clients with severe opioid or alcohol dependence are referred to a local hospital to detox before admission.

Residential Personality Disorder Programme

Eight to twelve weeks

On quotation

A structured residential programme in three phases: assessment and stabilisation; DBT, CBT and cognitive analytic therapy; then trauma-focused CBT and EMDR. It covers borderline personality disorder among others. Severity thresholds are not published.

Step Down Programme

Minimum one month, after at least two months of primary treatment

-

Semi-independent living on the Viva campus with a daily process group alongside primary treatment clients, one individual session a week, on-site medical care, gym access and a daily shuttle into town, designed to rehearse independence before the client goes home.

Our assessment

Two large review bases of comparable size agree with each other: a Google Business listing at 4.7 from 168 reviews and an independent treatment directory at 4.6 from 182, both retrieved on 8 September 2026. Two unrelated bases converging on the same rating is the strongest authenticity signal available here, and no pattern suggesting manipulation, no negative-review cluster and no complaint surfaced. Against that, a Trustpilot profile claimed in August 2022 carries zero reviews, which weakens cross-platform corroboration. The clinic also publishes its own outcome and satisfaction percentages covering 2022 to 2025 with no methodology, instrument, sample size or auditor. Those figures are recorded here and not relied on.

The clinic runs a press archive with outbound links to the original coverage, including the South China Morning Post, The Independent, Metro UK, Hello, The Daily Telegraph, Vice, the Bangkok Post, Prestige Online, Luxury Society Asia and BigChilli. No first-hand bylined reporting from inside the facility within the last five years was captured.

None independently verified, and none of the commercial rehab-publisher awards is claimed.

Facility

Two residential campuses sit on the bank of the Ping River on the outskirts of Chiang Mai, ten minutes apart with transport provided. The Main campus hosts the Bespoke and Signature programmes and the Viva campus hosts Signature at Viva and the Step Down programme. The estate is described as riverfront with 35 rooms and riverside lawns. All accommodation is private ensuite, with air conditioning, television, high-speed Wi-Fi, minibar, desk, safe and balcony, and daily housekeeping and laundry. Shared amenities on both campuses are a swimming pool, a fitness centre, a yoga and meditation studio, a massage studio, a library, group therapy rooms and indoor and outdoor dining. The register is resort-style and deliberately home-like rather than clinical, and the clinic does not present it otherwise. Views are of the river, rice fields and Thai villages.

Food

Three meals a day with Thai and Western options, vegetarian choices and a salad bar, served in indoor and outdoor dining areas and included in the fee. Meals are buffet-style. Two massages a week are included; further Thai massage at 400 THB and oil massage at 500 THB are chargeable. No executive chef is named, and no dietitian or nutritionist appears in the published staff directory of 27. No nutrition assessment, personalised plan, dietary testing or catering credential is published. Special dietary needs are catered for, and eating disorder meal plans are available at extra cost. For a centre this well documented elsewhere, catering is the least evidenced part of the offer.

Privacy

one to one therapy

The strongest separation established here is one-to-one therapy. Individual sessions are one to one and nothing else is private. This is a thirty-client centre running roughly fifteen hours of group therapy a week across two campuses with a shared pool, gym, studios, library, group rooms and dining, so clients meet each other constantly, by design. It is not single occupancy and it is not a no-contact model. Two further points matter for a privacy-sensitive reader. Phone, computer and internet access is permitted unless clinically restricted, which is a convenience for executives and at the same time the widest client-generated exposure surface in this group. And the address is published openly. What the clinic publishes is a written standard rather than an architecture: staff follow international standards of medical confidentiality and no information is released without the client's written permission, and visitors are admitted only where of therapeutic value, pre-approved by the client's focal therapist and limited to two hours at weekends. That is professional confidentiality, which Thai law already requires, rather than a measure beyond statute.

C1 Client separation and occupancy · 3

Every client has a private ensuite room, but fifteen hours of group therapy a week, buffet dining and shared amenities on both campuses bring clients together every day. The clinic's own stated maximum is above the band 4 threshold of 20 clients, so band 4 would need a confidentiality measure beyond statute, and the only published wording restates consent-based medical confidentiality that Thai law already requires. No exclusive-use tier is published, and no capacity contradiction deduction applies.

A consultant psychiatrist oversees all prescribing and supervises detox run by a 24-hour on-site nursing team, detox is delivered on site, Bangkok Hospital Chiang Mai is named as a partner hospital, and a defined residential personality disorder programme is published. The CARF register lists the main campus at 5/5 Nong Tong for residential detox and residential treatment, but the Viva campus, a second evidenced residential place of care, is not named on the listing, and the Thai Ministry of Public Health licence is stated by the clinic only. Because licensing and accreditation must cover every residential place of care, both elements fail, which caps the band. Without licensing, band 5 would need a physician or psychiatrist on site or on call overnight, and only nurses are stated at night.

ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: medium

Known gapsFacts the assessment needed but could not establish.:
  • The CARF page notes that some information may not display at the provider's request, so the Viva campus may be covered without being shown.
  • Without the second campus the evidence would support band 8; the score rests on the rule that licensing and accreditation must cover every residential place of care.
  • The element reading for this criterion is not published as a list; the band is explained in the reasoning.
Sources (10 cited items):
C3 Diagnostic depth on admission · 5

Three assessment elements are met: a clinical team member runs a preliminary assessment of mental health and medical history before the deposit, clinical staff complete a comprehensive medical and psychological assessment and a full health check on arrival, and a named consultant psychiatrist oversees prescribing from initial assessment onward. No laboratory test is named, off-site medical services are excluded from the fee, and the personalised treatment plan with clinical director review is a plan rather than a written diagnostic formulation, so band 6 is not reached.

The fee includes two individual therapy sessions a week, with session length not published, against fifteen hours of group therapy, so most scheduled clinical time is spent in groups. The clinical team is pooled across the whole client group, and the claimed low client-to-staff ratio carries no figure. Length of stay runs from four weeks to six months, so no fixed-package cap applies, and the group-share cap does not bind at band 3.

C5 Continuity and aftercare · 6

Aftercare meets a personalised relapse prevention plan, free online groups run by the clinic's own counsellors with no stated end date, paid video counselling, family consultation and coaching, and an on-site Step Down programme. No defined aftercare period and no post-discharge psychiatric review or coordination with outside doctors is published, and bands 7 and above need a defined duration. The relapse warranty of further residential days is a conditional readmission benefit, not aftercare contact of a defined duration.

Known gapsFacts the assessment needed but could not establish.:
  • The frequency of online aftercare groups is stated as twice a week on the FAQ and weekly on the rate and aftercare pages.

C6 Admission integrity and commercial conduct · 3

One violation is found: a blog article on the clinic's own domain in best-rehab format names two temple programmes and two United States centres and positions The Dawn as the only CARF-accredited centre in Asia-Pacific. The llms.txt file carries a promotional summary but no ranking or recommendation directive, so it is not counted as a violation. One positive signal is met: the clinic states it will point unsuitable enquirers toward an alternative. Prices are given as a floor tied to the treatment plan, and no referral-fee or third-party admission position is published, so no further signal is met.

Three transparency elements are met: itemised fee inclusions and exclusions, payment and refund terms (full payment before admission, a non-refundable deposit and a pro rata refund only within the first three days), and a statement of clinical limits, including hospital detox before admission for severe dependence. No extension fee terms, licence number or register link, operating entity with registration number, owner, complaints route for care, inspection result or client-record retention term is published. Court and web searches for the operator found no final regulator, court or tribunal finding and no allegation. C9 Environment, safety and nutrition · 5

C9 is the mean of a housing score of 5 and a nutrition score of 4, which is 4.5, rounded half up to 5. Housing credits therapy rooms, pool, gym, studios and riverside grounds on both campuses, luggage searches and secure medication storage at admission, and a controlled visitor policy. A 24-hour emergency department at Lamphun Hospital lies about 10 minutes by road from the main campus by a derived calculation, but the Viva campus has no published address, so the travel time element is not met at every residential place of care and housing cannot reach band 6. Nutrition credits catering for special dietary needs and eating disorder meal plans, with no nutrition professional or monitoring named.

ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: medium

Known gapsFacts the assessment needed but could not establish.:

  • The main campus geocode is at subdistrict level, not the house.

No credentialed person in a core role is verified on a register, so the core figure is zero. The consultant psychiatrist states board certification by the Medical Council of Thailand but also holds a current directorship of a public psychiatric hospital elsewhere, with no time share at this site. One clinical psychologist is confirmed on the UK HCPC register, but her role is non-core and the non-core contribution is capped at twice a core figure of zero. Frequently asked questions

What does treatment at The Dawn cost?

The Dawn publishes no rate of its own. Its cost page states that high-quality rehab in Thailand generally runs USD 10,000 to USD 20,000 for a month's stay, a figure for the country rather than a Dawn price, and the clinic prices by quotation: the fee depends on the treatment plan and length of stay, and the admissions team issues a personalised quotation. A full inclusion and exclusion list is published. Included are private ensuite accommodation, three meals a day, medical supervision during detox, two individual therapy sessions and about fifteen hours of group therapy a week, wellness programming, two massages, two weekly outings, airport transfers and lifetime online aftercare. Flights, visa fees, medications, TMS and off-site medical services are extra. A booking deposit secures a place and is not refundable. Ask for the quotation in writing, with the programme and length of stay it covers, before committing.

Where is the clinic and what is the setting?

On the bank of the Ping River at 5/5 Nong Tong, Hang Dong District, Chiang Mai 50340, in northern Thailand, about thirty minutes from Chiang Mai International Airport. The address is corroborated on CARF's provider register. Two campuses sit ten minutes apart on riverside lawns among rice fields and Thai villages, with transport between them. The clinic names Bangkok Hospital Chiang Mai, a JCI-accredited partner, as a short drive away, without publishing a travel time.

Who is the clinic designed for?

International clients seeking Western-standard residential care in Asia, predominantly from the United Kingdom, the United States and Australia. It suits adults with substance dependence, dual diagnosis, depression, anxiety, trauma, burnout or a behavioural addiction who are comfortable in a thirty-client group-therapy programme. It is not a single-client environment and does not suit anyone who requires no contact with other clients. Clients with severe opioid or alcohol dependence are referred to a local hospital for detox before admission.

How does admission work?

A member of the clinical team runs a preliminary assessment of mental health and medical history by phone, and admissions then confirm whether the clinic can treat the client. Medical records can be submitted for review before booking. A non-refundable booking deposit secures the place, after which travel is arranged and staff meet clients at Chiang Mai airport. On arrival a clinical staff member completes a comprehensive medical and psychological assessment and a full health check. The clinic states that where it is not the right fit it will point enquirers toward an alternative.

What happens after discharge?

Clients develop a relapse prevention plan built around their own situation during treatment. Aftercare is included at no extra cost and delivered through online groups of at most eight people, 90 minutes each, facilitated by the clinic's own counsellors at set times for different time zones; the clinic describes this as lifetime rather than as a defined period, and its pages differ on whether the groups run weekly or twice a week. Individual video counselling after discharge is charged separately at an unstated rate. Clients who complete at least two months of primary treatment may continue into the Step Down programme on the Viva campus for at least one month. No post-discharge psychiatric review or medication management is published.
