St. Radegund bei Graz,
A 185-bed Styrian rehabilitation hospital whose self-payer track offers something rarer than luxury: immediate admission and a stay that reaches no insurer and no authority.
Privatklinik St. Radegund began operating as a Sonderkrankenanstalt for psychiatric rehabilitation in July 2007 and is listed in the federal register of hospitals in Austria with 185 beds at one site. It belongs to SANLAS Holding, a Styrian healthcare group. The core business is a six-week rehabilitation programme funded by the Austrian social insurance carriers for depression, burnout, anxiety, stress and trauma-related disorders and chronic psychosomatic illness, delivered by specialists in psychiatry and psychotherapeutic medicine, general practitioners, psychotherapists, clinical psychologists, movement therapists and dietitians, with 24-hour medical and nursing cover. Running alongside it is a self-payer track with immediate admission and one genuinely distinctive written commitment: no information and no data are passed to insurers or to authorities. This is a group-based rehabilitation hospital in a park, not a discretion product. Accommodation is single and double rooms only, participation in the therapy programme is mandatory, and the dining hall, cafeteria, lounges and therapy garden are shared.
Assessed: The clinic has a full assessment in this edition: all ten criteria scored, each with its reasoning, its sources with capture dates, and the gaps we could not close. It does not mean every fact is confirmed. How well the evidence holds up is shown by the confidence rating. What our labels mean
The clinic publishes a named collegial leadership and named department leads. The treating medical team itself is described only collectively, as specialists in psychiatry and psychotherapeutic medicine and general practitioners, with no names.

Six weeks
Funded by the Austrian social insurance carriers, with the carrier's standard client contribution
The clinic's core product: a multidisciplinary six-week programme for depression, burnout, anxiety, stress and trauma-related disorders and chronic psychosomatic illness, combining medical care, psychotherapy, clinical psychology, movement and training therapy, dietetics and social work, with recovery of functionality and return to working life as the explicit goals. Participation in the therapy programme is mandatory and each client has a reference therapist responsible for individual care throughout the stay.
Three weeks
Funded through SVS
A preventive programme for the self-employed and for farmers carrying a high occupational stress load who are not yet acutely ill, delivered inside the clinic's standard multidisciplinary structure.
Three weeks, with admission within two weeks
Funded through KFA Graz and KFA Wien
A rapid inpatient pathway for insured public-sector members in acute psychological difficulty. The treatment package is the clinic's standard multidisciplinary offer rather than a separate clinical model, and the clinic publishes admission within two weeks.
Flexible, extendable by individual agreement
Not published by the clinic; self-paid against an individual cost estimate
Immediate admission with no waiting time during a psychological crisis or straight after acute hospital treatment. A non-binding first consultation with the medical director, a comfortable single room, full board with menu choice, a thorough medical admission examination with specialist diagnostics and laboratory tests, intensive psychotherapeutic care, 24/7 specialist and nursing cover, and a written undertaking that no information or data goes to insurers or authorities.

Named as a distinct offering on the medical and therapeutic services page alongside the four treatment pathways. No content description, duration or price is published, so the scope of the assessment cannot be stated.
No public price found.
The problem is volume, not credibility. The verifiable public rating base for a 185-bed clinic operating since 2007 is roughly ten entries, and the Google figure available to this research was second-hand rather than a direct read of the listing, so it is not carried here as a rating. No Trustpilot profile was found. Austrian directories carry listings with no material review volume. One Austrian psychotherapy forum thread carries first-hand accounts dated March 2008 to January 2009, mixed positive and critical, with no owner responses. The clinic publishes a client case account on its own landing page, which is clinic-controlled content rather than an independent review. Recognition here is certification-based rather than review-based. No final regulator, court or tribunal finding was found, and no documented leak, press incident or data-protection proceeding was located.

Regional coverage only: a local news item on a 2014 change of medical director and a regional magazine feature on outcomes in psychiatric illness. No national or international press and no first-hand bylined reporting from inside the facility was found.
None found. The only badge on the clinic's own landing page records participation in a climate-friendly healthcare facilities consultancy project.
A clinic building on the Diepoltsberg above St. Radegund bei Graz, in the Schöckl uplands roughly twenty minutes by road from Graz and from Graz airport. Accommodation is exclusively single and double rooms, described by the clinic as modern and friendly, with views over its own extensive park and the East Styrian hill landscape. Communal space is a defining feature: shared lounges for relaxing or receiving relatives, a house cafeteria with a sunny terrace, a bright dining hall, tea bars and a TV room, rest rooms with infrared cabins, aroma bathing rooms, a shop, a therapy garden, two outdoor therapy areas, a client laundry and free Wi-Fi. There is no swimming pool, no spa suite, no private residence and no separately described private wing. Companions can be accommodated on request. This is a well-kept, comfortable clinical building in a beautiful place, and it does not present itself as hotel-grade property.
Better evidenced than at most clinics of this class. Catering is run by a dedicated group company that holds ISO 9001 certification in its own right and is included in the Quality Austria surveillance audit, which covers hygiene and process discipline directly. The clinic names both a head of gastronomy and a head of kitchen, and dietetics is a named clinical function held by a department lead with a degree-level qualification, alongside social work. Published service: a breakfast buffet from 07:00 to 08:30, three-course lunch and dinner menus at 12:00 to 13:30 and 17:00 to 19:00, a bright dining hall, a cafeteria, and dietary choice options. Private clients receive full board with menu selection. Nutrition counselling with dietetics and a taste-training element is part of the therapeutic programme, and the therapy programme page describes dietetics as devoted to the balance between healthy and needs-based nutrition. No gourmet or restaurant-trained chef is claimed, and no micronutrient, intolerance or nutrigenomic testing is published.
shared setting
None of the three separation conditions is met. The clinic runs 185 beds in one building with a shared dining hall, a shared cafeteria, shared lounges, a shared park and a therapy programme whose group components are compulsory. Clients see each other constantly, by design. A single room for private clients is a comfort feature, not a separation guarantee. No alias policy, no client non-disclosure agreement, no staggered admission, no separate private wing and no unbranded transport is published. What the clinic does publish is concrete and unusual. Visitors are received in the cafeteria and on the terrace and are not allowed in rooms, on the floors or in the therapy area, with visiting after 17:00 on weekdays and after noon on Saturdays. And for self-payers it undertakes in writing that no information and no data are passed to insurers or to authorities, listed alongside a protected and discreet environment and admission with no waiting time. For an Austrian client whose real exposure is a permanent record with a social insurance carrier or a public-sector employer, that removes the paper trail rather than the people.
Headline basis: Public evidenceThe headline number is the public score, not the extended score., LROAS 1.0.0, edition 2026-10-01
Public-evidence total: 41
The sum of the ten criterion scores, from 10 to 100, using evidence anyone can check, including the clinic's own pages as self-declared statements. For the licence element of C2 only, it can also use an authority ruling held in our sealed evidence room. It is the only number used for the rank.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: medium. ProvisionalA check was still open when the edition closed, for example a register lookup or a video not yet received, or evidence under embargo.: C10.
The comfort and facilities page states accommodation in single and double rooms only, with shared lounges, a cafeteria and a therapy garden, and the therapy programme page makes participation in a group-based programme mandatory. Double rooms offered as a tier with group work at the core place the clinic in band 2. The self-pay private stay adds a guaranteed single room and a statement that no data are passed to insurers, but it runs in the same shared setting with the same mandatory programme, so it is not a separate higher tier. The bed counts differ between clinic pages (185 and 165) and the federal hospital register, but these are capacity-number differences, not contradictions about the occupancy model, so no deduction applies.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: high
The federal hospital register lists the site as row K663, a Sonderkrankenanstalt licensed for rehabilitation of mental illness. The team page names a medical director in the collegial leadership, the private-stay page states round-the-clock specialist and nursing care, and general practitioners sit on the medical team; the clinic is itself hospital-licensed. Three of the higher elements are met, which gives band 7. Band 8 needs a fourth: addiction is a stated contraindication, so on-site medical detox is not offered, and the ISO 9001:2015 certification is a management-system certificate, not accreditation by a healthcare accreditor.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: high
The private-stay page offers a non-binding first consultation with the medical director before commitment, followed by a thorough medical admission examination with specialist diagnostics, laboratory tests, findings documentation and psychological and psychometric testing. The medical team comprises psychiatry specialists and general practitioners at a registered hospital site. This supports band 6. The spiroergometry and biofeedback units on the therapy programme page belong to training and movement therapy, not a cardiac diagnostic work-up, and no medication policy is published, so the next elements are not met.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: high
Individual psychotherapy and group therapy are listed, each client has a reference therapist, and weekly reference-physician rounds are published. No count of one-to-one hours or sessions and no share of group work is published, and the team is pooled across the whole clinic with about 140 to 145 employees for up to 185 places. Without a published count the score is the not-published band 3.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: low
The private-stay services and the immediate self-pay admission page describe discharge management with a written plan for daily structure after the stay, a discharge examination and interview, coordination with community clinicians and follow-up appointments with the medical director. Social counselling covers work, benefits and psychosocial aftercare offers. No aftercare duration, price, structured post-discharge psychiatric review or step-down option is published, which holds the score at band 4.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: medium
The clinic landing page and the operator's facilities overview show no self-ranking, no award or press logo wall and no unlabelled sponsored content, and the clinic's former domain simply redirects to the operator page. With a clean sweep and no positive signal, the score is band 4. No price for the self-pay stay is published (prices on request), and no referral-fee, declining or voluntary-admission policy is published, so no positive signal lifts the band.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: low
The legal notice publishes the operating company Privatklinik St. Radegund Betriebs GmbH with company number FN 366013f, and the landing page and group legal notice state ownership by SANLAS Holding. The psychiatric rehabilitation page publishes contraindications, which counts as a statement of limits. Two elements are met, which gives band 3. No fee inclusions, payment, refund or early-departure terms, no licence reference in the legal notice, no inspection results and no client-record privacy terms beyond website data are published, and ownership was not confirmed in the company register.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: high
The clinic has operated as a Sonderkrankenanstalt for psychiatric rehabilitation since July 2007, and group news and the 2025 quality report record ISO 9001:2015 audits. Searches of Austrian court and administrative decision databases and open searches found no final regulator, court or tribunal finding. No regulator inspection record was found, there is no first-hand bylined reporting from inside the facility, and the only first-hand client accounts are in one forum thread from 2008 and 2009, so the standing elements for a higher band are absent and the score is band 5.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: low
The site offers a therapy garden, rest rooms with infrared cabins, a cafeteria with terrace and published visiting arrangements, and the programme includes dietetics with nutrition counselling and dietary choice. The nearest verified emergency department, the Center for Acute Medicine at LKH-Univ. Klinikum Graz, is about 32 minutes and 18.9 km by road, which exceeds the 30-minute threshold, so that element is not met. Both the house and the nutrition components sit at band 5, and no emergency equipment or medication handling policy is published.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: high
The team page names the collegial leadership and department leads, and register lookups confirm the head of psychotherapy on the Austrian psychotherapist list and two clinical psychology leads on the list of clinical psychologists. The treating medical team is described only by specialty without names, so few credentials can be counted. The medical director's specialist registration was not yet confirmed on the Austrian medical register, so the score stays at band 2 with no entry gate met.
ProvisionalA check was still open when the edition closed, for example a register lookup or a video not yet received, or evidence under embargo.: Clinician register lookups for this criterion were still open at the edition cut-off (see known_gaps). The points count as assessed on the evidence available; the band may change when the lookups are completed, which is resolved in a later edition.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: medium
The clinic publishes no price of any kind: no day rate, no week rate and no package price, for either the funded programmes or the private stay. The six-week psychiatric rehabilitation programme is funded by the Austrian social insurance carriers with the carrier's standard client contribution, and the two three-week programmes run through SVS and the KFA funds. A private self-payer stay is billed individually against a personal cost estimate from the clinic, and may be partly reimbursable by supplementary insurance on request.
Diepoltsbergerstraße 38-40, 8061 St. Radegund bei Graz, in the East Styrian hills below the Schöckl, about fifteen kilometres north-east of Graz and twenty kilometres from Graz airport. The clinic sits in its own extensive park with views across the surrounding hill landscape, in a quiet village at altitude, with walking, hiking, running and cycling country beginning outside the door.
Adults with depression, burnout and exhaustion, anxiety and panic disorders, stress and trauma-related disorders, sleep disturbance or chronic psychosomatic illness, who need inpatient treatment aimed at recovering functionality and returning to work. Two distinct groups use it: Austrian clients on a funded six-week pathway, and self-payers who need admission immediately and want the stay kept off any insurer or official record. The clinic excludes acute mental illness, danger to self or others, organic brain disorders, lack of rehabilitation motivation, addiction and eating disorders, all of which it says need specialised institutions.
For a private stay, contact the clinic directly. There is a non-binding first consultation with the medical director, and admission can follow immediately with no waiting period, including directly after acute hospital treatment. Admission brings a thorough medical examination, specialist diagnostics, laboratory tests, findings documentation and psychological and psychometric testing. For the funded pathway, a written application to the relevant carrier is required and the carrier's approval sets the timeline. Participation in the therapy programme is mandatory once admitted.
Discharge planning is built into the programmes rather than sold separately. It includes a discharge examination and discharge interview, a written plan for daily structure after the stay, coordination with community physicians and therapists, organisation of outpatient medical and therapeutic follow-up where needed, and follow-up appointments with the medical director or deputy as required. Social counselling covers work, support benefits and psychosocial aftercare offers, and return to working life is an explicit programme goal. No aftercare duration and no aftercare price is published.
