Bad Brückenau,
A 49-room private addiction hospital in a Bavarian spa park, built around qualified withdrawal, ten therapy sessions a week and registration under an alias.
It is in Germany, not Austria. My Way Betty Ford Klinik is a private addiction hospital with 49 single rooms in the Staatsbad spa district of Bad Brückenau, Bavaria. The .at domain is a country marketing site for Austrian clients and describes the same Bavarian facility.
It treats alcohol, prescription medication and illicit drug dependence alongside the psychiatric conditions that travel with them. The model is qualified inpatient withdrawal followed immediately, rather than sequentially, by intensive psychotherapy: five individual and five group sessions a week, physician and nursing presence around the clock, medication-supported detoxification, and a full medical work-up that includes laboratory markers, abdominal and thyroid ultrasound, echocardiography, ECG and pulse oximetry. Acupuncture, biofeedback and neuro-electrical stimulation run alongside.
It is private pay, aimed at self-payers and privately insured clients across Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg, and it holds no contract with the statutory funds. No price of any kind is published: the clinic bills an all-inclusive daily rate and issues an individual written estimate before admission.
The building is a 19th-century villa, a mothers' convalescent home until 2006, rebuilt to hotel standard between 2016 and 2018. Two things a reader should know before anything else: the clinic's hospital authorisation could not be confirmed on any public register, and the Betty Ford name is the subject of unresolved United States federal litigation, with no affiliation to the American foundation of that name.
The clinic publishes a full team page with names and specialties, and a separate page for its scientific advisory board. Treating clinicians are published by initial and surname.

No practitioner registration or licence number is published for any individual. The physicians' stated specialist titles could not be confirmed on the Bavarian chamber register, which could not be queried by name.
28 days minimum, longer with comorbidity
-
Medically supervised, normally medication-supported withdrawal with physician and nursing presence around the clock, followed immediately rather than sequentially by psychotherapy at five individual and five group sessions a week, plus a full medical and laboratory work-up, relapse-prevention work and discharge planning into outpatient care.
Typically four to six weeks, longer with comorbidity
-
Structured tapering from benzodiazepines, opioid analgesics and hypnotics under physician supervision, alongside the standard psychotherapy schedule and family work. The tapering schedule drives the length of stay, and pain is reassessed where opioids were originally prescribed for chronic pain.
Four to six weeks typical, longer with comorbidity
-
Withdrawal management for cocaine, cannabis, stimulants and opiates, with adjunctive acupuncture, biofeedback and neuro-electrical stimulation, addiction-specific group therapy and craving management. Independent reviewers note comparatively less substance-specific protocol depth here than for alcohol.
Individualised, longer than 28 days
-
Concurrent treatment of depression, burnout, ADHD, anxiety disorders, trauma, personality disorders or psychoses alongside the substance disorder, with psychiatric medication management by the chief physician team. This is the clinic's stated reason for insisting on a longer stay where a comorbidity is present.
Integrated into the inpatient stay
Included in the daily rate
Structured involvement of partners and family members through family and couple sessions inside the admission, psychoeducation on the illness model, and planning of the home environment before discharge. It runs inside the stay rather than as a separate priced module.
One week, at the earliest four weeks after withdrawal
-
A one-week return stay with therapists the client already knows, alongside telephone counselling at set intervals, outpatient talking therapy near home through a network of partner practices, and referral to therapist-led aftercare and self-help groups. Offered after a stay of at least four weeks.
No public price found.
The canonical review source is an independent, moderated German clinic-review platform that the clinic does not control and cites itself in its own quality statement: 80 reviews, of which 72 would recommend the clinic, consistently positive across all five rating dimensions, with the most recent review dated 28 August 2026. The clinic's quality management replies on the platform. The review body reads as authentic. Volume is spread over many years rather than clustered, and the complaints are specific and unflattering: thin substance-specific protocol depth outside alcohol, gaps in aftercare coordination for clients living far from the clinic, inconsistent nursing attitudes, and accessibility gaps for older clients. That is not the signature of a managed review set. The problems here are absences rather than artefacts. No verified rating or count could be established on any general review platform, no profile was found on the main international review site, and no independently audited outcome data of any kind exists.

Regional coverage in a Franconian newspaper on 9 July 2013 on the clinic's discretion model. The clinic reproduces items from national German outlets dated 2018 and 2019 on its own site and carries an "as seen in" logo row. National tabloid attention has attached to individual client stays rather than to the clinic's clinical work.
No clinical award was found, and certification is not an award. A consumer health magazine named the clinic a top rehabilitation clinic for 2022 in its issue 08/21; that is a commercial magazine listing, not an accreditation, and the clinic presents it separately from its BAR, FVS, DEGEMED and ISO certification.
A 19th-century villa in the Staatsbad spa district of Bad Brückenau, roughly 3 km from the town centre, converted from a mothers' convalescent home in 2006 and comprehensively renovated and extended between 2016 and 2018. Forty-nine modern single rooms at hotel standard, eight of them air-conditioned, each with its own bathroom. Rooms run in categories. Comfort rooms carry air conditioning and underfloor heating, a desk, a television and Wi-Fi; penthouse and deluxe rooms add a living area. Interior common space includes lounges with television and library, computer workstations, a modern dining hall, a laundry service, and therapy rooms equipped for individual and group psychotherapy, music, art and movement therapy. The clinic sits directly on a 250-year-old spa park with mature and rare trees, open around the clock, with mineral springs and walking routes nearby. There is a rooftop terrace, a badminton court, volleyball, table tennis and boule. Spa and fitness are borrowed rather than owned: clients use the spa and garden at the adjacent hotel, 300 metres away, at no extra charge. Access is by car or train, and the transfer from the nearest major airport is long. A room-category breakdown circulating in search results totals 47 rather than 49 and does not reconcile with the clinic's own two published categories. The clinic's own figure of 49 single rooms is treated as canonical.
Not published in detail. The clinic markets healthy cuisine as part of the therapeutic environment and describes a varied menu of freshly prepared dishes with a generous beverage and fruit selection available buffet-style at no additional charge, served in a modern dining hall. Cooks and service staff are mentioned among the site's staff. What is not published: any named chef, any nutritionist or dietitian on the team page, any nutrition assessment on admission, any dietary or micronutrient testing, and any gourmet credential. Hygiene is covered indirectly by the clinic's ISO 9001:2015 certification of the whole operation, and no hygiene incident was found. Reviewers on the independent German clinic-review platform consistently praise the food and the range of menu options, which is the stronger evidence of the two.
one to one therapy
Clients receive one-to-one therapy five times a week and every client has a single room with its own bathroom. There is no no-contact guarantee: this is a 49-room congregate programme with five group sessions a week plus a shared dining hall, shared lounges and shared spa access at the neighbouring hotel, so clients meet each other daily and by design. The protocols the clinic does operate are concrete and unusually specific. It offers registration under an alias, the use of a fictitious postal address, and screening of incoming calls, which are put through only with written consent. Only a minimum of people are informed about the therapy. The clinic describes these measures as going well beyond statutory data protection, explicitly to protect clients from professional or personal fallout. What holds the privacy record below the top band is not the policy but the pattern: client stays here have reached the German press since 2008. A genuine alias policy does not by itself substitute for a model in which clients do not encounter each other.
Headline basis: Public evidenceThe headline number is the public score, not the extended score., LROAS 1.0.0, edition 2026-10-01
Public-evidence total: 44
The sum of the ten criterion scores, from 10 to 100, using evidence anyone can check, including the clinic's own pages as self-declared statements. For the licence element of C2 only, it can also use an authority ruling held in our sealed evidence room. It is the only number used for the rank.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: medium. ProvisionalA check was still open when the edition closed, for example a register lookup or a video not yet received, or evidence under embargo.: C10.
The occupancy model is congregate: every client has a single room with its own bathroom, but clients are brought together daily through five group therapy sessions a week, a shared dining hall, shared lounges and shared use of the neighbouring hotel spa. Band 4 is reached through measures beyond statute: an alias name on request and calls put through only with written consent. Band 5 needs 10 or fewer clients on site, which no evidence establishes for this model, and no sole-occupancy tier exists, so no addition applies. The clinic makes no one-client claim, so no deduction applies.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: medium
The clinic names a chief physician and two deputy chief physicians stated as specialists in psychiatry and psychotherapy, states physician and nursing presence 24 hours a day, and delivers medication-supported withdrawal on site. It states a hospital authorisation for detoxification under section 107 I SGB V, but only on its own page: the Bavarian hospital plan as at 1 January 2026 does not list the site and no other register entry was found, so the licence element is not met and the band is capped at 5. No escalation hospital is named, and the ISO 9001 and FVS DEGEMED certificates are quality-management certifications, not accreditation on an accreditor's register.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: high
An admission examination involving several specialists covers psychological and somatic diagnostics, laboratory markers, abdominal and thyroid ultrasound, echocardiography, vascular duplex, ECG and pulse oximetry, with comorbidity screening in the first week and an individual treatment plan for every client. Band 8 is not reached because no clinical screening before commitment and no written diagnostic report for the client are published.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: medium
The clinic publishes five individual and five group therapy sessions a week, with physician and nursing presence around the clock, delivered by one pooled team of about 50 to 60 staff. Group therapy is about half of sessions by count, so no group-share cap applies. Higher bands are not reached because the length of individual sessions is not stated and the team is not dedicated to individual clients. The stated 1:2 physician-to-client ratio does not reconcile with the clinic's own staff list and is not scored.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: medium
An individual aftercare plan is made during the stay, a one-week interval therapy at the clinic with familiar therapists is offered at the earliest four weeks after withdrawal, telephone counselling runs at set intervals with crisis counselling, and outpatient talking therapy near home is arranged through partner practices, with referral to self-help groups. Band 7 is not reached because no aftercare duration, no price or fee inclusion, no psychiatric follow-up, no family aftercare and no six-month structured contact are published.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: medium
One violation is recorded: a page on the clinic's own domain titled Beste Entzugsklinik in Deutschland presents the clinic as the best withdrawal clinic in Germany, with no author and no date. No paid recognition presented as accreditation and no text addressed to AI systems was found; the 2022 top rehabilitation clinic designation by a consumer magazine is listed as an award, separately from the certifications. Only one positive signal is met, self-registration by the person concerned; no price is published, no referral-fee position is stated and no policy of declining or referring unsuitable admissions is published. One violation with fewer than three positive signals gives band 3.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: low
Three transparency elements are met: the daily rate is stated to cover medical and therapeutic services, accommodation and meals with physiotherapy chargeable; the legal notice names My Way Betty Ford Klinik GmbH, HRB 7066 at the Schweinfurt register court, and its registered address; and a statement of limits is published. No payment, deposit or refund terms, no fee terms for extension or early departure, no shareholder or parent, no licence number or register link, no complaints route, no inspection results and no record-retention section in the privacy notice are published. No contradiction deduction applies.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: medium
No final regulator, court or tribunal finding against the operator is on record within 10 years. A United States federal trademark case against the operating entity in the District of Minnesota, filed in January 2020, was closed on 23 July 2025 by stipulated dismissal with no judgment on the merits and no public terms, so it scores nothing; a June 2024 discovery sanctions order in that case is interlocutory and is recorded without scoring, and a 2019 WIPO domain complaint was denied. No statutory inspection record, no bylined first-hand report from inside within five years and only one independent review platform were found, so the higher bands are not reached.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: high
For environment and safety, therapy rooms are on site, the grounds offer a rooftop terrace, sport and a fitness area, visits are possible by arrangement with testing on return from day leave, and a Leading Rehabs route estimate puts the 24-hour central emergency department of Main-Kinzig-Kliniken Schlüchtern 29 minutes away by road. Four environment elements give a sub-score of 5; emergency equipment and training, medication safety, environmental risk management, residence staff roles and independent proof of the premises are not established. For nutrition, meals are stated as freshly served but no nutrition professional, assessment or plan is published, giving 2. The rounded mean of 5 and 2 is 4.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: medium
No credential of any clinician with a role at this site could be verified. The treating physicians are published by initial and surname and the chamber register could not be queried by name, and because the facility licence is not proven on a public register, the clinic's own statements cannot provisionally verify them. Advisory board members with university posts are verified, but the board is advisory and does not treat, so it cannot count without verified treating clinicians.
ProvisionalA check was still open when the edition closed, for example a register lookup or a video not yet received, or evidence under embargo.: Clinician register lookups for this criterion were still open at the edition cut-off (see known_gaps). The points count as assessed on the evidence available; the band may change when the lookups are completed, which is resolved in a later edition.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: medium
The clinic publishes no price at all, not on its fees page and not on its dedicated page about the cost of private alcohol withdrawal, which discusses reimbursement only. It bills an all-inclusive daily rate covering medical and therapeutic services, accommodation and meals, and issues an individual written estimate before admission based on the diagnosis and the expected length of stay. A cost overview is sent on request after an enquirer leaves their details. Physiotherapy is listed as chargeable on top. The offering targets self-payers and privately insured clients; the clinic holds no contract with the statutory funds or the German pension insurance. Ask for the written estimate, in writing, before you commit.
Bad Brückenau in Lower Franconia, Bavaria, Germany, in the Staatsbad spa district about 3 km from the town centre, on a 250-year-old spa park. It is not in Austria, despite the .at country site, which markets to Austrian clients but describes only the Bad Brückenau facility. It is reached by car or train, and the transfer from the nearest major airport is long.
Adults with alcohol, prescription medication or illicit drug dependence, including those with a co-occurring psychiatric condition such as depression, burnout, ADHD, anxiety, trauma, a personality disorder or a psychosis. It is a private-pay clinic, so the client base is self-payers and privately insured clients from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg. The alias and fictitious-address policies are aimed squarely at people for whom treatment becoming known would carry professional consequences. It is a congregate setting: anyone who needs no contact with other clients should look elsewhere.
No physician referral is required. The route is a call to the hotline, an individual consultation, then registration, and a preliminary conversation with one of the specialist physicians can be arranged on site. The decision and the registration must come from the person concerned: relatives can make contact and support, but the clinic presupposes a basic motivation for abstinence. After arrival there is an admission examination with psychological and somatic diagnostics, involving several specialists, from which an individual treatment plan is drawn up. Clients may register under an alias and use a fictitious postal address. The minimum stay for uncomplicated alcohol dependence is 28 days, longer where a comorbidity or long-term use is present.
An individual aftercare plan is worked out with every client during the stay. After discharge the clinic offers one week of interval therapy at the clinic, at the earliest four weeks after withdrawal, with therapists the client already knows; telephone counselling at set intervals, with timely counselling possible in a crisis; regular outpatient talking therapy near home through a network of partner practices whose therapists know the treatment concept, arranged after a stay of at least four weeks; and referral to therapist-led aftercare groups and self-help groups. Reviewers name this as the weakest link in practice: waiting times between discharge and the start of follow-up therapy can be long, and coordination is thinner for clients living far from the clinic. Agree the aftercare pathway, and who arranges it, before admission.
