Teterow,
A listed German operator of restored castle clinics that treats acute psychiatry, including psychosis, in settings built on the idea that the building is part of the medicine.
LIMES publishes 48,021 treatment days, EUR 38.1 million in revenue and its exact shareholdings in an audited annual report, which almost nobody else in this sector does. It is a Düsseldorf and Xetra-listed operator of high-end private acute psychiatric clinics built on an explicit Healing Environment thesis: that the building, the grounds and the light are themselves part of the treatment. Each site is a restored Schloss or historic estate inside a large park. The clinical proposition is relationship-oriented medicine from an interdisciplinary team, combining high-frequency psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy, body and movement therapies, art and dance therapy, and a branded sports-medicine programme, LIMES Sports.Care. These are acute hospitals, not rehabilitation spas: they admit at short notice in crisis, and they treat the full acute psychiatric range including psychosis, which most luxury-positioned clinics decline. The commercial model is private insurance, public-sector assistance and self-pay. This profile scores the two mature German sites, Mecklenburgische Schweiz at Teterow and Fürstenhof at Bad Brückenau.
Assessed: The clinic has a full assessment in this edition: all ten criteria scored, each with its reasoning, its sources with capture dates, and the gaps we could not close. It does not mean every fact is confirmed. How well the evidence holds up is shown by the confidence rating. What our labels mean
Both scored sites name their clinical leadership on their own German-language pages, and the group publishes a three-member medical advisory board chaired by a Nobel laureate in Physiology or Medicine.

Four to eight weeks
-
The core product at both scored sites. An individualised plan combining high-frequency individual psychotherapy, group work, guideline pharmacotherapy where indicated, body and movement therapies and creative therapies, delivered by an interdisciplinary team with physician presence around the clock. Short-notice admission is possible in a crisis.
Four to eight weeks
-
The volume indication across both sites. Psychotherapy combined with structured activation, exercise medicine under LIMES Sports.Care, sleep work and occupational reintegration planning. Independent reviewers single out the integration of physical training with psychotherapy as the element that distinguishes it.
Four to eight weeks
-
Trauma-focused psychotherapy including EMDR, stabilisation work, body psychotherapy and concentrative movement therapy, in a low-stimulus estate setting chosen for safety. It is delivered inside an acute clinic rather than a rehabilitation setting, so psychiatric deterioration can be managed on site rather than transferred out.
Individually set
-
Unusual for a luxury-positioned private clinic and the clearest expression of the licence class. The group lists psychotic disorders publicly among its treated conditions and describes antipsychotic medication alongside cognitive psychotherapy, with psychiatric cover around the clock, so it admits presentations most high-end private clinics turn away.
Integrated into the stay
Included in the daily rate
A branded exercise-medicine and sports-psychiatry track with sports scientists on the team, individualised training and performance work, aimed at athletes and at clients for whom physical recovery is the lever. Reviewers rate the sports therapy team highly and specifically, and a cardiologist and sports physician advises on it from the medical advisory board.
Four to eight weeks
-
Multimodal pain management combining psychotherapy, physiotherapy, movement therapy and pharmacological review, for somatoform disorders and chronic pain with a psychological component, inside the same inpatient stay.
Continuous through the stay
Billed on top of the daily rate; amounts not published
Upgraded single rooms, double rooms or comfort rooms, chief-physician treatment, and additional diagnostics or therapies. This tiering carries a documented criticism: reviewers on a basic tariff report reduced access to supplementary therapies relative to what the marketing implies, so it materially changes what a client receives.
No public price found.
The review base is genuinely independent and the negative reviews are specific, detailed and unremoved, including sharp criticism of tariff tiering and of the atmosphere at Mecklenburg. There is no sign of manipulation. The problem is volume, not honesty: roughly 170 client reviews across both sites against a group running some 48,000 treatment days a year is a thin public record for the scale of the operation. One caution: the aggregate carried by a reputation-score site for Mecklenburg is sourced entirely from the Google profile, so the two are the same reviews counted twice and must not be added. Positive themes: the integrated concept combining psychotherapy, sports therapy, art therapy and mindfulness; the sports therapy team specifically; staff from reception through to kitchen; the castle settings and room design; food quality; individual attention and breadth of therapy. Negative themes, all from independent platforms and all left unremoved: families excluded from treatment planning for adult clients; high therapist turnover breaking continuity of care; differential-diagnosis gaps, with one reviewer stating the clinic is unsuitable for people on the autism spectrum; and clients on a basic tariff reporting reduced access to supplementary therapies despite the marketing. A single review dated 31 July 2024 described the atmosphere at Mecklenburg as closer to a party than a clinic and reported seeing intoxicated clients on the grounds; the clinic replied publicly on 29 August 2024, disputing the account and stating that it carries out regular alcohol and drug testing. The account could not be verified and no regulator, court or other final outcome exists.

Coverage is financial-press rather than clinical-press: a profile of the listed company in the German financial media, equity research initiation, ad-hoc releases on half-year and preliminary full-year results, and deal coverage of the CLINICUM ALPINUM majority acquisition. Regional reporting on the Mecklenburg site covers a pre-opening report from January 2016 and a false fire alarm in August 2024, neither of which describes the care or the interior. That mix is simultaneously a real asset, because the numbers are audited, and a real gap, because no independent clinical journalism exists on either site.
None verified.
LIMES Schlossklinik Mecklenburgische Schweiz, at Teschow near Teterow, is the flagship: a historic estate on Lake Teterow set in roughly 120 hectares of English parkland with two golf courses on the estate, one nine-hole and one eighteen-hole. It opened in April 2016 and its rooms are unusually large at approximately 58 square metres, each with its own bathroom. There is a therapy pool, the LIMES Lounge, a fireplace room, an art therapy space, a breakfast room and lounges with views across the Mecklenburg lake district. The weak point is access: Teterow is rural, roughly an hour from Rostock and well over two hours from Berlin. LIMES Schlossklinik Fürstenhof opened on 1 June 2020 inside the Bavarian State Spa in the Rhön, on a site the clinic notes was used by King Ludwig of Bavaria as a summer residence. Its grounds run to roughly 40 hectares of spa parkland, with rooms giving panoramic views over the state spa. Interiors are built to the Healing Environment brief: natural light, sustainable materials, warm palettes, box-spring beds. Communal space includes a reception lounge, restaurant, fireplace room and therapy rooms, and Villa Schwan holds designated rooms with adapted facilities for clients who bring their dogs. Both sites are quiet, low-stimulus, large-grounds properties with strong views and high cleanliness ratings from independent reviewers. Neither publishes a full spa or wellness inventory, and the Mecklenburg therapy pool is the only pool documented at either.
Full board is included in the daily rate, described by the clinic as a wholesome kitchen using sustainable, regional and fresh products, with nutrition named as an essential part of the holistic approach and eating habits discussed in the admission interview. Nutrition counselling is listed among the therapies at Fürstenhof. The strongest evidence here is independent rather than promotional: on the moderated German clinic-review platform the clinic does not control, Fürstenhof reviewers repeatedly describe the cuisine as being at five-star hotel level, and kitchen staff are named among the personnel reviewers praise. That is a consistent, multi-author, independently posted signal. What is not published: no named executive chef, no culinary credential, no named nutrition professional with a stated qualification, no individual dietary or micronutrient testing, no personalised nutrition plan per client and no nutrition monitoring during the stay. Dining is restaurant-style in a shared dining room rather than in-suite. The annual report states a strict hygiene concept implemented at all locations, and no hygiene incident was found.
one to one therapy
High-frequency individual psychotherapy is core at both sites. Clients occupy rooms inside a shared clinic building rather than a separate residence, and there is no no-contact arrangement: these are clinics of 44 to 90 places with communal dining in a shared restaurant, group psychotherapy in the programme, shared parkland and, at Mecklenburg, two golf courses on the estate. Clients meet each other continuously as a matter of design. To the group's credit, it does not claim otherwise. Its answer to privacy is location rather than separation: large private estates, long approach roads, low-stimulus rural settings and controlled grounds. That genuinely protects a client from outside observation, from photographers and from being seen arriving. It does nothing to prevent one client meeting another, and it is not offered as if it did. No documented leak of a client stay was found, no press incident naming a client, no confidentiality breach and no data-protection finding. The group operates under German medical confidentiality and European data protection law, and the Mecklenburg privacy notice names a controller and a data protection officer and states a retention rule. No client or visitor confidentiality agreement, no staff confidentiality regime beyond the statutory minimum and no dedicated protocol for public figures is published by either site, so nothing above the German legal baseline is on the record.
Headline basis: Public evidenceThe headline number is the public score, not the extended score., LROAS 1.0.0, edition 2026-10-01
Public-evidence total: 36
The sum of the ten criterion scores, from 10 to 100, using evidence anyone can check, including the clinic's own pages as self-declared statements. For the licence element of C2 only, it can also use an authority ruling held in our sealed evidence room. It is the only number used for the rank.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: medium. ProvisionalA check was still open when the edition closed, for example a register lookup or a video not yet received, or evidence under embargo.: C10.
Scored on the occupancy model only; room and place counts are not used. Fuerstenhof sells accommodation in a single room, a double room or comfort rooms as an elective extra, so shared bedrooms are offered as a price tier, and group psychotherapy is core at both scored sites (two 100-minute groups a week at Fuerstenhof; individual and group psychotherapy and a sociotherapeutic group at Mecklenburg), with communal dining and shared parkland. No confidentiality mechanism beyond statute is named. Band 3 would need all bedrooms to be private. No contradiction in the clinic's statements about the model was found, so no deduction applies.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: high
Psychiatric care by a psychiatrist is stated, and a medical director and the Fuerstenhof chief physician are named. Fuerstenhof states that physicians are present around the clock, including nights and weekends, but for the Mecklenburgische Schweiz site the clinic makes no such statement; a job posting for an on-call physician covering nights and weekends supports but does not establish cover there, so round-the-clock physician cover is not established at every scored site. The clinic states a Paragraph 30 GewO concession, but Germany has no public list of such concessions and no licence was confirmed on a register, so the band 5 ceiling applies in any case. Classical withdrawal treatment is not carried out and no accreditation was found.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: high
Three elements are met: Fuerstenhof organises a preliminary medical consultation before admission with a specialist referral; the Mecklenburg therapy offer lists somatic medical examination and diagnostics with test-psychological and psychosomatic intake diagnostics; and Fuerstenhof describes laboratory, radiological and internal-medicine diagnostics through cooperation partners before guideline pharmacotherapy. The contents of the discharge report are not described, so the element needed for band 6 is not published.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: medium
Individual therapy is offered several times a week with no session count or length published, alongside two 100-minute group therapies a week and several physician contacts; the chief physician's post also gives no count. The staffing ratio of more than twice as many employees as clients describes a pooled team, not a dedicated per-client team. Night-shift and on-call postings describe site cover, not 24-hour clinical presence with the client. Band 3 is the band for individual therapy without a published count.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: low
A discharge plan naming the follow-up provider, timing and recommended therapies is drawn up with the client, and aftercare planning runs with referring clinicians. The phrase 'in person or web-based' describes planning with outside providers, not remote aftercare delivered by the clinic. No duration, price, psychiatric follow-up or structured long-term contact is published, so only two elements are met.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: medium
No violation was found: the post sitemaps of both main domains contain no ranking, best-of or award page, the only badge links to a live independent review profile, and the llms.txt files on two newer domains are neutral content indexes while the file returns HTTP 404 on both main domains. No positive signal is met: the cost page gives only the German market range of EUR 350 to 700 a day and promises a binding offer before admission, which is a price on application, and no referral-fee, exclusion or voluntary-admission policy is published. A clean sweep with no positive signal gives band 4.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: low
Four elements are met: daily-rate inclusions and elective extras, the operating entities with register numbers at Amtsgericht Schweinfurt and Amtsgericht Koeln, ownership shown in the audited Annual Report 2024, and a statement of regulatory status and statutory-insurer limits. Not met: cancellation and refund terms (a deposit 'in some cases' is stated without them), extension and early-departure terms, a licence number, a complaints route and inspection results. No contradiction in the clinic's figures was found, so no deduction applies.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: high
No court, regulator or bylined outcome was found against either site entity or the parent within ten years, and the audited risk report states that no official order has had a negative effect so far. No inspection is on record. The only bylined regional report concerns a false fire alarm and describes no care or interior, and one independent review platform carries the review volume. This is the 'not published' band 5.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: high
Environment and safety: therapy rooms, large parkland at both sites, a therapy pool and communal spaces are documented, and a Leading Rehabs road estimate puts the emergency department of DRK-Krankenhaus Teterow 11 minutes from the Mecklenburg site, with the destination verified on the hospital's own site. That gives four environment elements (sub-band 5). No drive time was computed for Fuerstenhof, and no emergency protocol or published substance policy exists (a no-tolerance statement appears only in a review reply). Nutrition is full board with no named professional or plan (sub-band 2). The mean of 5 and 2 rounds to 4.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: medium
Both sites publish named clinical leadership and teams, and two medical advisory board members hold positions confirmed on official university pages. Advisory board members are not treating or governance clinicians at either site, and no treating or governance clinician has a credential confirmed on an official register. Archived team pages corroborate titles but are not registration evidence, so no credential counts and the score is band 1.
ProvisionalA check was still open when the edition closed, for example a register lookup or a video not yet received, or evidence under embargo.: Clinician register lookups for this criterion were still open at the edition cut-off (see known_gaps). The points count as assessed on the evidence available; the band may change when the lookups are completed, which is resolved in a later edition.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: medium
The group does not publish its own price, and that is the single biggest gap in an otherwise very transparent operator. It bills a flat daily rate covering the room, full board, medical and psychological sessions, physician cover around the clock, nursing, necessary medication, relaxation and the LIMES Sports.Care programme. Its own cost page gives only the German private-clinic market range of EUR 350 to EUR 700 per day, which is the market's range and not the clinic's rate. Upgraded rooms and suites, chief-physician treatment and additional diagnostics are billed on top, and a deposit is required in some cases.
Two mature German sites. Mecklenburgische Schweiz sits on a historic lakeside estate at Teschow near Teterow, in roughly 120 hectares of English parkland with two golf courses, about an hour from Rostock and well over two hours from Berlin. Fürstenhof occupies a castle property inside the Bavarian State Spa at Bad Brückenau in the Rhön, with about 40 hectares of spa parkland. Both are deliberately rural, quiet and low-stimulus. The group also runs newer German sites at Abtsee and Lindlar and holds majority stakes in two clinics outside Germany.
Privately insured clients, recipients of public-sector assistance, self-payers and international clients who need genuine acute psychiatric care in a high-end setting rather than a wellness retreat. Because these are licensed private acute clinics with psychiatric cover around the clock, the group admits presentations most luxury clinics decline, including psychosis and acute crisis. Typical presentations are depression, burnout, trauma and PTSD, anxiety and OCD, ADHD, personality disorders, chronic pain and sleep disorders. Athletes are a declared target group through the sports-psychiatry track. Anyone who requires a guarantee of never meeting another client should look elsewhere.
Contact the clinic directly by telephone or email and the client management team handles the rest, including correspondence with the insurer and the cost-coverage application. A preliminary medical consultation is arranged before admission, and Fürstenhof requires a specialist referral. The group states that short-term admission is possible at any time in a crisis, and its audited treatment-day figure against its bed count implies the spare capacity to honour that. No standard non-emergency waiting time is published.
A discharge plan is drawn up with the client naming the follow-up provider and when to see them, which further therapy is recommended and what to discuss directly with that provider, together with medication for the first days and a discharge report. Aftercare planning is done closely with referring clinicians and can be therapist-led in person or web-based. Occupational reintegration support is part of the stay. A structured, named, standalone aftercare programme with a published duration or price is not offered, which is a gap against clinics that sell aftercare as a defined product.
