Les Avants,
A restored alpine chateau above Montreux, licensed as a Swiss inpatient facility, treating addiction and mental illness in a small therapeutic community.
Clinic Les Alpes occupies a restored chateau at about 1,000 metres above Montreux, in the hamlet of Les Avants in the Canton of Vaud. The Canton of Vaud lists the site among establishments holding an operating authorisation, and the clinic describes its own licence category as an inpatient medically licensed hospital, permitting medically supervised detoxification and psychiatric care on site without transfer.
Psychiatry, addiction medicine, general and internal medicine, nursing, psychotherapy, nutrition and complementary therapy run to one treatment plan, with medical and nursing teams stated to be available 24 hours a day. A hand-picked therapist works with each client daily in individual therapy, and group therapy runs alongside individual work in most programmes, so this is a therapeutic community rather than a private residence.
The residential Addiction and Mental Health Programmes run a minimum of 28 days and are extendable on clinical grounds. Shorter pathways cover assessment, executive burnout, sleep and personal growth. The clinic publishes a headline weekly rate on its own website, which few Swiss operators at this price point do.
Assessed: The clinic has a full assessment in this edition: all ten criteria scored, each with its reasoning, its sources with capture dates, and the gaps we could not close. It does not mean every fact is confirmed. How well the evidence holds up is shown by the confidence rating. What our labels mean
The clinic publishes its clinical roster, naming a Medical Director and a Clinical Director, both physicians, a psychiatrist, a general practitioner, a Chief and Deputy Chief Nurse, therapists, art therapists, an equine therapist and a nutritionist.

Family therapy with family therapists, treatment conferences held with the client's consent, and peer support between family members. Built on the clinic's stated principle that families need help in their own right and not only in relation to the person in treatment. No duration or price is published.
Ongoing; the clinic describes support for up to a year
Continuing care after discharge: relapse prevention, ongoing counselling, personal coaches, scheduled psychiatric consultations, an optional Journey Home Companion who travels with the client on the transition home, and booster stays of a few days back at the clinic. The lead therapist continues to support the client. A network of psychiatrists, psychologists, coaches and therapists worldwide supports the transition. No minimum duration and no price are published.
Independent review coverage is thin. The local.ch listing shows 5.0 from 3 ratings with no review text displayed, which is too small a base to read anything into. There is no Trustpilot profile. Directory ratings are not used here. The strongest independent account is a bylined first-person feature published on 11 February 2024, written after a four-day stay, which describes the arrival assessment, the two in-house detox suites, the medical spa and the security measures at the entrance, and records no adverse finding. No inspection report for the site is on the public record, and no regulator, court or tribunal finding against the operating entity was found in English or French.

The clinic's own press page lists outlets, each with a link to the coverage, among them The Telegraph, 24 heures, Le Temps, Madame Figaro, Wired and Forbes. Of those, only the bylined first-person Telegraph feature of 11 February 2024 was captured in full for this profile. Features in Forbes, Robb Report and Luxe Wellness Club could not be retrieved and are not relied on.
Listed in the Spear's 500 index, which is an editorial index and not an accreditation. The clinic sponsors the Spear's Impact Award; that is a naming sponsorship, not a prize the clinic won.
A historic alpine chateau at Route de Sonloup 37, restored to its original grandeur, with three further storeys excavated from the rock beneath it to house the medical department and the Body Mind Source medical spa. Accommodation runs to three categories, Elegant Rooms, Spacious Executive Suites and one fully self-contained private apartment, all with en-suite bathrooms and private balconies looking over Lake Geneva and the Alps. No room or bed count is published by the clinic. Communal space includes a library, drawing room, study and terrace. The medical spa holds treatment suites, yoga and pilates studios, a gymnasium and a pool. A tunnel bored into the mountain leads to the Serenity space, a meditation area with mountain views. Detox suites sit beside the nurses' station, and the full medical health check is completed in-house. Access is by mountain road or the Montreux to Les Avants railway, roughly 90 minutes from Geneva Airport. Les Avants is a hamlet rather than a resort. The clinic does not publish the nearest emergency department or the road travel time to it.
Nutrition is handled as part of the clinical programme rather than as catering. Every client consults an in-house dietician, and nutritional assessment is part of the full medical health check. Dieticians work with the medical team to determine each client's micronutritional profile from tests of requirements and deficiencies, and then work with the Executive Chef on a personalised plan and a menu unique to that client. The restaurant runs a main dining room, a breakfast room, an outdoor dining area and private dining rooms. The Mental Health Programme adds nutrition workshops and interactive cooking classes, with habits intended to carry home. The named staff nutritionist studied dietetics in Grenoble and holds a university degree in the pedagogy and psychology of eating behaviour from the Faculty of Dijon. Dietary accommodations for medical, allergy or religious needs, condition-specific nutrition protocols and nutrition monitoring with plan adjustment are not published.
one to one therapy
Clients meet one another here as a matter of routine. Group therapy runs in the addiction, mental health, burnout, sleep and personal growth programmes, and the library, drawing room, study, terrace and restaurant are shared. What is offered is individual therapy with a hand-picked therapist inside a communal setting, and the clinic is straightforward about that. Named controls beyond statute: mobile phone use is minimised and prohibited in therapy sessions, Wi-Fi is available only by therapeutic agreement, and visitors come by appointment. First-hand reporting describes a guarded entrance, luggage checked on arrival with alcohol and drugs removed, and a separate private entrance for high-profile clients. A four-day visitor in February 2024 reported meeting no other clients, for privacy reasons. No policy on client anonymity within the building is published, and no scheduling that keeps clients apart in shared spaces is published.
Headline basis: Public evidenceThe headline number is the public score, not the extended score., LROAS 1.0.0, edition 2026-10-01
Public-evidence total: 58
The sum of the ten criterion scores, from 10 to 100, using evidence anyone can check, including the clinic's own pages as self-declared statements. For the licence element of C2 only, it can also use an authority ruling held in our sealed evidence room. It is the only number used for the rank.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: medium. ProvisionalA check was still open when the edition closed, for example a register lookup or a video not yet received, or evidence under embargo.: C10.
Band 4 applies through its second branch: all bedrooms are private en-suite rooms, and clients are brought together daily in group therapy and in a shared restaurant, common rooms, spa, pool and gym, with no scheduling that keeps them apart. That branch needs one confidentiality measure beyond statute, and the published phone and Wi-Fi policy that protects other clients supplies it. Band 5 is not established because no client count of 10 or fewer is published; no bed count is used as a quality signal and no exclusive-use arrangement was established. No contradiction about the occupancy model was found, so no deduction applies.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: high
Band 8 applies: the Canton of Vaud informative list of hospital establishments (1 January 2024) names the site among establishments with an operating authorisation, and a Medical Director and a Clinical Director are named as physicians. Four further conditions are met: 24-hour medical and nursing cover, with doctors and psychiatrists on call described in bylined reporting of February 2024; detoxification in-house in suites beside the nurses' station; a general practitioner in general and internal medicine on the team; and the hospital-licence route, as the clinic states it is licensed as an inpatient medical hospital. Band 9 needs five further conditions, and the remaining two are missing: there is no accreditation on the CARF or JCI registers and no defined programme for complex psychiatric conditions.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: high
Band 8 applies with seven assessment elements: a psychiatric assessment before admission and an on-site psychiatrist, psychiatric medication management, an in-house medical health check with blood analysis, ECG, urine screening, renal, cardiac and neurological examination, genetic testing as a specialist diagnostic, and a standalone 12-day Assessment Pathway with a complete assessment report. Band 9 needs all but one of the elements including a written multidisciplinary formulation delivered in the residential pathway, which is not published; imaging and neuropsychological testing are also not listed.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: high
Band 5 applies: daily individual therapy with a hand-picked therapist is published, which meets five or more individual sessions a week. Band 6 needs a typical or minimum figure of 1.5 hours a day of one-to-one contact, and no hours, session length or schedule are published; a dedicated clinical team per client is not established. The stay is a 28-day minimum extendable on clinical grounds, so the fixed-package cap does not apply, and the group share of clinical hours is not established.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: high
Band 6 applies with five aftercare elements: a personalised aftercare plan before discharge, the same lead therapist continuing, scheduled psychiatric consultations, an in-person option through the Journey Home Companion and booster stays, and sharing of the assessment report with the client's other providers. Band 7 needs six elements including a defined duration, and support is stated only as up to a year, which is a maximum rather than a defined period.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: medium
Band 5 applies: a clean sweep with one positive signal, a published price from CHF 60,000 per week with no statement that the fee is negotiable. The clinic's own best-clinic page names no other clinic, so it is not treated as a ranking; the press page links each outlet to its article with no award presented as accreditation, and the llms.txt file is a neutral outline with no instructions addressed to AI systems. No referral-fee position, policy on declining unsuitable admissions or voluntary-admission policy is published, so band 6 is not reached.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: medium
Band 5 applies after a deduction: five transparency elements are met (fee inclusions and an exclusion, the operating entity Clinique Les Alpes SA with UID CHE-115.476.369, a complaints route to the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner, a privacy notice naming the controller with a 10-year retention period, and a statement of regulatory status and exclusions), which gives band 6. One point is deducted because two of the clinic's own pages give different figures for the fee: the pricing page states a floor of CHF 60,000 per week, while a live blog article gives around CHF 180,000 for the 28-day programme. Payment, deposit and refund terms, early-departure terms, a licence number or register link, ownership and inspection results are not published.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: high
Band 6 applies: no court or regulator outcome naming Clinique Les Alpes SA was found in French and English searches, and bylined first-hand reporting from inside the facility in February 2024 describes premises and care with no adverse finding. The clinic is absent from the cantonal psychiatric-hospital inspection page and the 2022 to 2025 inspection round report, so no statutory inspection is on record, and band 6 is the ceiling without one. The local.ch listing (3 ratings, no text or owner replies) does not meet the review condition.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: high
Band 7 is the mean of two sub-scores, 6 for environment and safety and 7 for nutrition, rounded half up from 6.5. Environment meets six elements: on-site clinical rooms and diagnostics, grounds, spa, pool and gym, a 24-hour emergency department about 23 minutes and 18.3 km by road at Hôpital Riviera-Chablais in Rennaz (a Leading Rehabs estimate, destination verified on the hospital's page), named residence roles, family conferences and visits, and the premises on the cantonal list; band 7 needs emergency readiness on site, which with medication policy and self-harm risk management is unpublished. Nutrition meets five elements including a named nutritionist trained in dietetics, a micronutritional assessment, test-based planning, a kitchen working to the plan and cooking classes; band 8 needs a sixth element.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: high
Band 4 applies: fifteen named clinicians count at this site, carried by the licence page statement that all clinical staff hold their own registrations. Relevant specialists are present, but specialist titles rest on the team page alone and the federal health-profession register could not be read, so depth and density stay thin and band 5 is not reached. The score is provisional pending the register lookups.
ProvisionalA check was still open when the edition closed, for example a register lookup or a video not yet received, or evidence under embargo.: Clinician register lookups for this criterion were still open at the edition cut-off (see known_gaps). The points count as assessed on the evidence available; the band may change when the lookups are completed, which is resolved in a later edition.
ConfidenceHow well the evidence supports the score.: medium
The clinic publishes its rate on its own pricing page: from CHF 60,000 per week for the individualised treatment programme and hospitality, including medically supervised detoxification where required. The minimum stay for a full addiction or mental health programme is 28 days, and the clinic publishes no total for that stay. Medical treatment unrelated to the reason for admission is excluded. Payment, deposit, refund, extension and early-departure terms are not published.
Route de Sonloup 37 in Les Avants, a hamlet at around 1,000 metres above Montreux in the Canton of Vaud, Switzerland. It is roughly 90 minutes by road from Geneva Airport and is also served by the Montreux to Les Avants mountain railway. The building looks out over Lake Geneva and the surrounding peaks. The setting is deliberately quiet, while Montreux, Lausanne and Swiss hospital infrastructure remain close by.
Adults with substance or behavioural dependency, or with conditions such as depression, anxiety, trauma and burnout, who need inpatient care including medically supervised detoxification. It suits people who want a licensed Swiss medical facility with 24 hour clinical cover and who are willing to be part of a therapeutic community, since group therapy and shared communal spaces are integral to the model. Anyone who needs more separation from other clients should raise it before admission.
Contact the admissions team. Speed depends on the quality of the referral information and the person's current health status, so the clinic does not quote a fixed timeline. Existing medication is continued until it has been reviewed with the Medical Director and the doctors, after which the plan is agreed. The minimum programme is 28 days for addiction and mental health, with 12 and 20 day pathways also available.
A personalised aftercare plan is made before discharge, together with a further health check measured against the admission baseline. Continuing care covers relapse prevention, ongoing counselling, personal coaching, scheduled psychiatric consultations, an optional Journey Home Companion who travels with the client on the transition home, and booster stays of a few days back at the clinic. The clinic describes support for up to a year with regular check-ins. No minimum duration and no price are published.
